April 2020 Business Roundup

April 2020 Business Roundup | Eleanor Stones

Hello, hello. Welcome to the second instalment of my monthly Business Roundups.

In case you missed last month’s post, I’ve decided to take my monthly review, usually on good old fashioned pen and paper (with the help of Kat Horrock’s Goal Setting Work) - and share it online with you.

Life Update

Life in Lockdown

April felt much like March. Daily walks to get a dose of exercise, lots of Zoom/FaceTime calls and an absurd amount of snacking. Anyone else can’t stop eating at the moment?!

I’ve been taking a lot more time to relax (one of my big focus goals for April ✅) which has meant making the most of my Netflix and Disney+ subscriptions. My current favourite is Money Heist. I’m a few episodes into the first series and loving it! What should I add to my list next?

Kat’s Group Coaching

I mentioned last month that I’ve struggled with mental health in the past and now more than ever I need to look after myself. At the start of lockdown, I signed up to Kat Horrock’s Passion and Purpose Group Coaching to keep my accountable and focussed towards self-improvement and looking after #1. I’ve found the community a brilliant plus point for group coaching - I had nothing worry about! I definitely recommend taking part in group coaching if you haven’t already!

Business Update

The Shop

This month I’ve put in place some very exciting first steps towards my big project of May, my new template shop with 9 products for creative businesses.

It’s been something I’ve toyed with from the day I started freelancing. I’ve spoken over on Instagram recently about what stopped me from starting. My good friends, fear and overwhelm. Time just didn’t seem on my side. But now more than ever I want to help those who do not have the full budget for 1:1 services.

So, I took some time out of my schedule a couple of weeks back and got my plan in place. Launch date set (end of May) and a to do list to sink my teeth into. I can’t wait to share more with you! Sign up if you want to stay in the loop.

This one is a biggie. After doing my business tasks, client work and preparing for my shop launch, there is little time for anything else. My mind is bubbling with ideas at the moment, though. So I’ve always got a notebook to hand so that I can dump my thoughts to come back to after the launch.

I've been sitting on the idea of selling my own set of products since I first started freelancing. The idea of helping out business owners with different sized budgets has always had such an appeal to me. So, what's stopped me? Time and overwhelm, to be totally honest. But... ⚡️ "Nothing will work unless you do." ⚡️ Well, if I never put myself and my products out there, I'll never be able to help entrepreneurs with different budgets to achieve success online. This is life-changing stuff and I can't wait to extend my helping hand beyond 1:1 services. With a kick up the bum after a rollercoaster couple of weeks due to the current global situation, I'm ready. So, this week I've been putting the work in to get the needle moving. It's early days but I'm SO fired up working on these - alongside working with my gorgeous clients too, of course! How do these wise words resonate with you? Books I’m Reading

The Comparison Cure by Lucy Sheridan. This one is a little heavier and so it’s taken me a little longer to work through it. However, it is AMAZING. You’ll need a pen and some time cleared in your schedule to be able to work through the sections and dive deep into your brain. I’m not quite finished but I’m learning a lot about myself as I work through this gem.

The Invisible Woman by Caroline Criado Perez. This one was recommended by a few friends so I picked it up before lockdown. It’s been a fascinating read, that’s for sure. However, it is a little heavy with pages upon pages of references at the back. Note to self: balance out with a fiction book for May!

Last Months Goals

Take time out for myself every evening and at the weekends. With my product work (see below) on top of my client work, I’ve been working longer hours. But I’ve been better at finding moments when I am creative and then switching off when I’m not. I’ve spent time baking, crafting, reading and (of course) watched Netflix. It’s a work in progress to get this right, especially with the current changes.

I’m committing to doing a session of Yoga every day in April. Done. Well, pretty much with a few days missed here and there. I feel GREAT because of it.

Launch some exciting business projects. Okay, I’ve got my plan in place and been busy working away on these exciting products that I plan to launch at the end of May. I’m sharing some snippets on my Instagram and to my email list so sign up if you want to stay in the loop.

Continue to serve my clients and audience during this difficult time. Check. I definitely felt present for my clients new and old this month. That being said, I did need to take a week or so away from social media to regain some balance.

Goals for next Month

Continue my yoga session every day (ish) into May. This has been such a joy that I want to try my hardest to keep it up during lockdown and into May.

Finalise products and relaunch my shop. After the success of my 2020 Content Calendar, I’m SO excited to finalise and launch my product shop this month. It’s going to feature different templates so you can have beautiful yet functional design on a budget. This is going to be the big one for me in May and I’m giddy thinking about it. Excited? Sign up if you want to stay in the loop.
