You name the platform, I’ve probably built a website on it over the years. Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Wordpress, Showitt? Yes, yep, mhm.

That’s a lot of hours and user testing on these platforms, I can tell you.

But when it came to niching down to one platform to offer my clients, there was one very obvious choice. (And no prizes for guessing which I went for!)

You see, not only is Squarespace brilliant for me as a designer, it’s wonderful for small business owners and my customers . Squarespace is flexible to all businesses and its needs making it the website hosting platform of choice.

So, if you’re of two minds when it comes to picking a website platform, this blog is for you.

Here’s the top reasons why Squarespace is the #1 website platform out there…

Beautiful Design

This is the first thing that caught my eye when testing out the platform. Squarespace websites are designed to be simple and b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. The platform uses templates as a base for all websites. They are incredibly flexible meaning you can have a unique website without the stress.

Sometimes less really is more and this is certainly the case with websites over recent years. Gone are the days of long menus and busy homepages. Squarespace offers clean, minimal and modern design. Perfect for taking your business forward and keeping your visitors happy.

And with no need to code to make your website your own, there is little risk of adding something new…only for something else to break elsewhere on your site.

Easy to use

Squarespace is so simple and easy to use, it is definitely one of the most straight forward web builder out there. It offers the perfect cocktail of ease of use and stunning design. Something I have struggled to find on competitor websites.

No need for a degree in computer science, you can quickly add in new functions and update old ones with the click of a button. This can save literally hours of time compared to other platforms.

As a web designer, I also love the ease of use. It allows me to pass on the website after a quick training call. No need for monthly retainers or stressed out calls, that phone number can be updated in a couple of stress-free minutes.

My clients really do LOVE the platform.

And who can blame them? I mean, just take a look at the image below showing the behind the scenes of my website. Clean and straight to the point!

Low Maintenance

When using other website platforms I was often faced with an inbox full of questions or requests for help. Not for Squarespace. My clients feel confident to look after their site themselves.

Some sites, *ahem* Wordpress, require an awful lot of maintenance once the site is live. This means as a small business owner you will have two options. You might have to spend precious time away from your clients downloading the latest version of each plugin and then tearing your hair out when this goes and breaks another one. The other option is to splash out on monthly maintenance from a developer. Last time I checked money didn’t grow on trees!

Squarespace, on the other hand, makes for a much more relaxing experience. Hosting, security, SEO and more are all taken care of within your subscription. You’ll find yourself sitting back with more time spent dedicated to your clients without a worry about whether your website is working or not.

all in One Functionality

Oh my, Squarespace really can do it all. Email newsletters, blogging, scheduling appointments, selling products, SEO…the list goes on. Squarespace has a full range of functions on offer. It is a platform that grows with you and your business.

All without the need to download multiple plugins - and keeping them updated throughout the year. It’s all there in the backend of Squarespace ready for you when needed. Squarespace is definitely the headache-free website platform.

Support

There is a wealth of support out there for your Squarespace website, should you need it.

Follow this link to find a list of guides, videos, a community forum and access to Squarespace’s live chat service. Wowee that’s a lot of support. And it’s high quality too! The team are brilliant and you can enjoy speaking to someone who works at Squarespace and knows exactly what they are doing. They also encourage and support a network of web designers through their program, the Squarespace Circle.

The bottom line is, Squarespace care about you and making your journey to getting your website as perfect for you as possible.

Affordable

All this and it’s affordable? No, you’re not dreaming. It really is.

Squarespace, being an all-in-one platform, absorbs a lot of the hidden costs that quickly add up on, say, a Wordpress site. The ‘extras’ on other sites actually come with your Squarespace plan so your only real costs come from your domain and Squarespace plans.

Take a look at Squarespace’s pricing here. You can get a website with all the bells and whistles for as little as £15/$18 a month. That’ll keep your purse happy.

I do hope it has given you some clarity if you are still in the decision process. If that’s not convinced you Squarespace is the place for your shiny new website, I don’t know what will. I, for one, am happy as Larry having my online home with Squarespace and can’t wait to see where we can go together!
